Footage of "Stan" getting kicked in the face by Shawn Michaels from as long ago as 2006 reminds us just how much of his life Tye Dillinger has spent earning his WWE stripes.

And yet, this year - having at last made the step up to the main roster - his career seems to have ran into a brick-wall, and to make matters worse there may not be anything he can really do to change that.

Whilst fellow NXT call-ups Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode have gone from strength to strength since debuting on the main roster, Dillinger hasn't really had too much to shout about, the highlight of his run so far being some brief involvement in the US Title picture.

Perhaps we've only ourselves to blame for all of this. We were all so excited about the prospect of him debuting as the tenth entrant in this year's Royal Rumble that we didn't stop to think about whether it would be a good thing for his long-term career. A debut on a less crowded stage may have better served his interests after all.
