11 CM Punk WWE Promo Showdowns That Could Be Awesome

If not a wrestling match, then a good hearty war of words?

"Never say never..."

Run with that however you choose to. Just remember that CM Punk has only re-trod official wrestling turf for a minuscule amount of time, and the seismic prospect of an in-ring return should neither be rushed nor squandered. Let's be patient.

Either way, we've got plenty of Punk's patented 'voice of the voiceless' gab to look forward to, and though it currently adopts an omniscient perspective over the general WWE product, we can hopefully at some stage look forward to Mr Brooks' trash talking entering the realms of kayfabe once again...

Or as close to kayfabe as you can get with CM Punk. Having already jovially returned fire at Seth Rollins and called out the ridiculousness of Baron Corbin's current gimmick, it's only a matter of time before an only marginally fictitious verbal standoff sets the stage for the CM Punk we know and love. (A guest on Miz TV anyone?)

Consider the following a wish list of the current talent we would love to see engaging in pipebomb-bowl with the Best in the World.

11. Baron Corbin

As far as creative is concerned, Punk has returned to near enough the same climate that he left almost six years ago, and his first exemplification of that fact pertains to the current plight of poor Baron Corbin.

Most people can ascertain the truth of King Corbin's current gimmick; It's beneath his abilities as a wrestler, and not the push he needs, King of the Ring or otherwise. Punk's 'garbage' criticism was not of the man, but of the people behind that man's current, not-exactly-favourable, persona.

But does Corbin agree? What would the said victim of bad development have to say on the matter? Maybe he actually likes being King Corbin, and maybe he'd defend his ability to stand on his own two feet with steely resolve. Iconic workhorses have climbed the ladder under worse branding, and maybe Corbin defending his 'kingship' with some genuine force could break him out of his underappreciated deadlock in a way that we all secretly hope he can, especially when it's via a verbal battle against the likes of CM Punk.
