The announcement that Daniel Bryan will be out of action for an indefinite period has been greeted with dismay by the WWE universe. The popular superstar has only just seen his main event career take off, he is only just starting to build momentum... all stopped by essential surgery required on a neck injury. The extent of the neck injury is unknown, but you don't need to be a doctor to realise this is fairly serious. Once the surgeons open the neck area up we should get a better idea of the damage, the best case scenario being that Bryan could be back in action in under two months. Let's not downplay the severity of this though, minimally invasive surgery can only achieve so much, Bryan could require much longer term treatment. For this reason the WWE are waiting on a decision of what to do with the WWE Championship. Ideally, they don't want to strip Bryan of the title, he is their number 2 guy and the man they have positioned 2014 around. Realistically, they may have no choice, Bryan's surgery could be about to throw the WWE their biggest road block of the year so far. It wouldn't be the first time a heavily invested in performer has succumbed to injury and caused major company revisions.
