One of the year's most anticipated WWE shows isn't even a PPV event: it's the night after WrestleMania. Typically the show is packed with shocks and surprises as it deals with the fallout of the company's flagship show, and this year's was no exception.

WrestleMania 33 itself was a heavily mixed bag, which gave Raw an easy through-line to deliver in many ways that Mania didn't. It had a fantastic opening segment, a constant conveyor belt of surprise appearances, and likely even made many jaded fans eager to check out next week's show.

It's not that uncommon for Raw to upstage what comes the night before, and though it certainly can't match the overwhelming spectacle of The Ultimate Thrill Ride, in terms of content it was a much more satisfying and less-exhausting experience.
