12 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2016

A 'Phenomenal' Rumble, with surprises and a new world champ!

Well, that was something. Don€™t get it wrong, the 2016 edition of the Royal Rumble broke the streak of bad Rumbles at three and delivered a solid show up and down the card, with an opening match that rocked the house and three other title matches that held their own. And of course, we got a Royal Rumble match that had just enough twists and turns throughout to keep fans involved and invested. A good Rumble includes surprise appearances, either in the form of a legend returning or a new superstar debuting. In this case, we got to see AJ Styles make his much-anticipated WWE debut, as well as Sami Zayn coming up from NXT to electrify the crowd. A good Rumble also includes several mini-angles that can develop into new feuds after the PPV, possibly setting up other WrestleMania matches or just new rivalries that can simmer during the next several weeks. Either way, a well-done Rumble does way more than just crown a winner. But it€™s the winner that really is the main story here, with Roman Reigns being eliminated before the match ended, leaving him yet again on the outside looking in. And we crowned a new world champion, as Triple H earned his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship (and 14th overall) in nearly seven years. And with that, our main event for WrestleMania XXXII appears to be set, as Reigns will attempt to once again overcome the odds and regain his world title. So, with that said, what ran roughshod and tossed foes, and what got clotheslined out unceremoniously? Let€™s get to it€
