Lana and Lashley was just the latest in a long wrestling tradition.

If you’re a new viewer of WWE, you might not be fully aware that what happened at the conclusion of Raw Monday night is actually more normal than you might realize.

The wedding ceremony between Bobby Lashley and Lana turned into a complete debacle, with numerous ex-spouses and former lovers interrupting, leading to Lashley getting laid out, Lana covered in cake, and Rusev and a returning Liv Morgan standing tall.

WWE weddings are almost cliché in many ways. They will never, ever go as planned. Someone will object, someone will leave their significant other at the altar, a fight will break out, and the wedding set will be destroyed. If the priest/officiant is lucky, he will escape unscathed.

Believe it or not, crazy weddings on WWE programming has a long history, going back more than 35 years. Every few years, someone will try to tie the knot in the ring, leading to chaos and havoc. It almost makes you wonder why wrestlers keep trying to get married during Raw or SmackDown. Almost.

With that said, let’s take a look at some of the most outrageous weddings seen on WWE TV through the years. Some ended with superstars actually tying the knot (in storyline) and others were completely disrupted, but none of them went as planned, making them a wedding planner’s nightmare.

Let’s get to it…

13. Teddy Long & Kristal Marshall

What a weird, incomplete storyline this turned out to be.

Teddy Long was serving as SmackDown GM when he began dating Kristal Marshall. The two got engaged in the summer of 2007 and had their wedding a month later. Interruptions abounded, and just when Teddy was about to say, “I do,” he had an apparent heart attack and fell into a coma.

No, seriously. That’s how WWE booked itself out of the wedding. The angle never got a proper resolution, as Kristal would leave WWE shortly after.

However, Long’s absence would give rise to his assistant… Vickie Guerrero. So if nothing else, this entire wedding angle led to the ascension of one of the best heel characters of the past generation.
