WWE house shows, or 'live events' as they're now called, are what the WWE crew when they're not on TV or PPV. They're shows specifically for the 'house', those fans that paid a ticket to see that particular show, that night. The cameras are not rolling and footage will not make it to television. It's supposed to be a unique experience.

That's how WWE bills it, anyway. In truth, house shows can be a bit of a mixed bag. One frequent accusation levelled against the house show experience is that it's too 'safe'. You know that the wrestlers are going to take it a little bit easier since they're not on television. You also know that titles are not going to change hands (there have been very few exceptions) and major storyline developments are not going to unfold.

House shows are, essentially, just a collection of matches. It's a basic show, a way to catch WWE stars in the flesh at a discounted price. Although they are more often than not highly predictable, unpredictable things can still happen on house shows. Impromptu shoot fights, fan attacks and all manner of kayfabe-destroying acts have happened on them.
