In a business full of outspoken and outlandish characters, perhaps none are as outspoken and outlandish as Scott Steiner. The Big Bad Booty Daddy has never been shy about expressing himself and has in recent years garnered a reputation from shooting hard at some of the industry's biggest names. Which is why he was the perfect choice for a live Q and A! On March 21st 2016, Inside the Ropes presented the first night of the 'Scott Steiner: Live and Uncensored' tour at The Garage in Islington, London. A very enthusiastic crowd were on hand to meet the legend and hear his unfiltered opinions on everyone and everything from his 30-year career. And boy was Steiner game for this. He admitted at the start of the show that he'd never done anything quite like this, going as far as to say that this was the most he'd ever talked in front of a group of people before ('so saying f***ing thank you!'), but he clearly wasn't phased by the challenge, answering every question as well as he could. Yes, there were a hundred or two expletives in there along the way. As much fun as it was to see Steiner go off on the likes of common targets Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, the evening had so, so much more to offer, as Steiner gave an insight into the business side of wrestling as well as his opinions on the current product. It really was an entertaining and informative evening and I would implore you to procure tickets to the upcoming legs in Belfast, Glasgow and Manchester. If you're a Steiner fan, or just a fan of seeing a certifiable maniac with a live mic for two hours, this is a must-see. With that in mind, here are fifteen (or so) things that stood out from the evening...
15. Bill Watts And Leaving WCW
One of the first victims of a Steiner rant was Bill Watts, the divisive former booker of WCW. Seems that Scott Steiner was not a fan of Cowboy Bill, despite the fact that he and his brother Rick had gotten along with him when they worked together in the UWF. Watts' decision to outlaw top rope and other high-risk moves was not popular a popular one, least of all with the surprisingly agile Scott. Steiner enjoyed doing high-flying moves like the Frankensteiner (not a hurricanrana) and the moonsault fallaway slam, but Watts preferred a decidedly old-school style, which Steiner says bored him. Ricky Steamboat, whom Steiner defeated for the US Title just before Watts' arrival, was also displeased, quipping 'What the f**k does he want me to do? All I've got is the crossbody off the top!'. If Steiner was annoyed by the banning of some of his favoured moves, he was downright furious about Watts cutting everyone's pay. Steiner figured he wouldn't mess with him and his brother's contracts, and indeed Watts didn't reduce their guarantees but he did refuse to offer them a pay rise of any kind. Never one to hold back when it comes to speaking his mind, Steiner let Watts know what he thought about him, cussing him out in the locker room in front of the rest of the boys. The Steiner Brothers would leave for the WWF soon after.
