When she debuted on WWF television on Sunday Night Heat as Essa Rios' pugnacious daredevil valet in early 2000, Amy Dumas hadn't yet been given an in-ring name.

Up until that point, the former Papi Chulo had been working dark matches as Fuego Dragones, and Dumas herself, playing along with the theme, had been calling herself Phoenix.

One of the company’s TV producers came up with 'Lita' off the cuff because he thought it sounded like a Spanish version of ‘Lolita’. Sunday Night Heat had its commentary added in post-production, and Michael Cole was fed the new name when recording his part that week.

Dumas only found out about her new name when she watched her TV debut back the following week and heard Cole officially naming her to fans worldwide.
