When future generations look back on the history of WWE, they might well recognise this week as one of the most important in the beginning of the end of the Vince McMahon Era. The big boss is apparently ceding control to Triple H increasingly, with XFL likely to take more of his attention for as long as it lasts.

Quite what that means for present WWE fans looking forward remains to be seen, but if you're looking to put a bet on the Authority suddenly becoming more prominent again, it's probably not the worst time to place it. Hopefully, we'll at least see a positive impact on 205 Live.

Elsewhere, there's been talk of how Ronda Rousey's time in WWE will impact Stephanie McMahon (see above for that wager tip), whispers of a Randy Orton/Bobby Roode feud and a big hint Rey Mysterio could return once more. Given the fact that WWE generated record revenue of $801 million in 2017, they can probably afford him.

And through it all, the WWE superstars of past, present and future took to social media to help keep that money-making powerhouse brand in everyone's timelines.

This was the week in WWE Instagram...

25. Fly Eagles Fly

As is the custom, Triple H showed off the specially made WWE belt celebrating this year's Super Bowl winners, the Eagles.

This probably brought a tear to friend of WWE Gronk's eye.
