Halloween is already in the air.

It's almost time for Hell In A Cell to kick off Halloween season properly, with Shane McMahon falling off the top representing WWE's equivalent to the the Times Square New Year's Eve ball drop. As soon as the PPV is out of the way, we'll see countless cosplays, zombies, scary photoshoots and reminders that Bray Wyatt and Finn Balor are both horribly underused on the main roster.

But before that happens, there's the small matter of the event itself, which was built up to this week with news of John Cena's return (because WWE really REALLY need you not to forget he's coming back) and plans for a Wyatt feud, and also Brock Lesnar's return (same logic). On top of that, there was talk of the immediate HIAC aftermath, as it seems Kevin Owens might be jumping to Raw and Jinder Mahal isn't dropping the belt. Shouldn't be surprised, really.

Nor should you at the revelation of Roman Reigns being the top rated superstar in WWE 2K18, but at least we get The Shield again. Small mercies.

And through it all, the WWE superstars - past and present - took to social media to share the last beach selfies of the year, some quieter personal moments and lots and lots of Halloween excitement. And Kurt Angle got quite the hair upgrade.

This was the week in WWE Instagram...

25. Kurt's Fried Chicken

With Halloween just around the corner, Kurt Angel was one of the first to debut a costume this year, with what might well be the greatest KFC cosplay of all time.
