3 Ups & 2 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Feb 8)

Downs...

2. Let Me Talk To Ya

Eli Drake
@IMPACTWRESTLING

It's a travesty what's happened to Eli Drake over the past year. After losing the World Championship to Austin Aries, it's essentially been a complete downhill slide for Eli. Aside from a brief reign as World Tag Team Champion (alongside Scott Steiner of all people), there's been little success for Drake in the months that have followed.

Last week saw he and Eddie Edwards defeat The Rascalz, but only after Eli used Eddie's trademark kendo stick. This happened despite Drake wanting to banish hardcore wrestling from Impact. After coming across as quite the hypocrite, he simply shrugged it off this week as if nothing happened.

If he aims to be stopping any and all form of hardcore-based wrestling within Impact, it's probably a good idea not to do it himself. By having him do this and then just act as if nothing happened makes Eli seem like a pointless character on the roster. Fair enough, it ties in with how he is in the sense that he does what he wants, when he wants. That's not how it's looking here though.
