3 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Oct 3)

Downs...

4. Nothing To See Here

Coming in at a shade over seven minutes, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch vs. Natalya and Carmella was the longest match of the night, and it didn't impress.

The action was solid enough, but nobody was working out of their skin, and each coasted through the contest in second gear. They hit a few story points towards the end, with Carmella cracking Becky with the Money in the Bank briefcase and Nattie tapping Charlotte out with a Sharpshooter, but there was little to distinguish it from any other bog standard TV tag contest.

The finish was an odd choice. Charlotte is set to challenge for Natalya's SmackDown Women's Championship at Hell In A Cell this Sunday, so you'd think the company would keep her protected. Instead, WWE decided to undermine the contender ahead of the big match, which, given their love of 50/50 booking, probably means that Flair's winning on Sunday.

It wasn't horrendous, but lifeless bouts like this just aren't fun to watch.
