We're nine days removed from No Mercy and a month out from Survivor Series, but make no mistake, the buzz about this week's Smackdown was for one reason and one reason only - James Ellsworth, the world's favorite enhancement talent and the man with two hands and a fighting chance, challenged AJ Styles for the WWE World Championship.

Implausible? Yes. Comical? Absolutely. Make no mistake, though, fans were behind Ellsworth - both on the Internet during the week-long build to his match and live in Denver. With that momentum - plus the antics of Dean Ambrose - could he pull off the greatest upset in WWE history?

You can probably guess the answer, but that match wasn't all that Smackdown had to offer. Many of the threads from last week and No Mercy were left hanging, meaning that The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, The Spirit Squad, Rhyno, Heath Slater, Naomi, and Alexa Bliss were all in action. While the blue brand seems to be coasting on the programs that have already been established in previous weeks, the formula seems to be working - for the most part.

Here are 3 ups and 4 downs from October 18's Smackdown:
