2. Curtis Axel - Intercontinental Champion - 155 Days (2013)

Saved from the depths of hell that was Michael McGillicutty, Joe Hennig was rebranded as Curtis Axel and dubbed the new Paul Heyman Guy after Extreme Rules 2013. Axel was immediately thrust into a program with Triple H (where he helped knock Hunter out of action) and immediately became Intercontinental Champion at Payback. Axel's reign as champion was not as eventful as the month or so before he became champion. He successfully defended the title against The Miz at Money in the Bank and Kofi Kingston at Night of Champions, but for the most part, he acted as Paul Heyman's lackey during Heyman's feud with CM Punk.
