4 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jan 18)

Downs...

3. That's Plenty

The demented Eddie Edwards story has run its course. It made sense for his rivalry with Sami Callihan, seeing as the oVe member obliterated Eddie’s eye. But now, there’s no real need for it to be emphasised as much as it is. Should he really be that mad in a random match with Ethan Page?

There are no issues with him still wearing a vest to compete or waving a kendo stick down to ringside. However, it doesn’t need to be the biggest point of his character. We all know he’s more than capable of carrying a match that’s more technical than hardcore – after all, he’s a former World Heavyweight Champion.

If there’s one up to this, it’s that he’s in a new program with Eli Drake, two guys who have tremendous chemistry together. Eli insulted Eddie for being hardcore since he’s completely against that style of wrestling (that’s what facing Abyss does to you), so here’s hoping he’s the one who puts an end to Edwards’ obsession with being the new Tommy Dreamer.
