4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (July 22)

Now begins the reign of the Demon Prince.

Last night's episode of NXT was the first of a fresh slew of 4 pre-taped episodes, filmed on July 16th, set to provide us with shows all the way to TakeOver Brooklyn. It couldn't have come soon enough because, for the first time in 2 weeks, WWE's Third Brand finally feels up to date. The previous month of episodes were all taped before Beast In The East, meaning that the dethroning of Kevin Owens went largely unaddressed on NXT TV for a deeply frustrating fortnight. Well, no more. Balor is back, Owens is back, the Championship is back and NXT feels complete once again, without a gaping void at the top of the card. However, to NXT's credit, despite the Title match contract signing taking rightful centre-stage tonight, the brand have been diligent in the maintenance of its midcard and with TakeOver Brooklyn one month away to the day, the card not only has its first official match, but several mid card stories bubbling away. For spoiler-hungry fans, finding the results of these taped shows on websites like Cagematch.com should provide them with an insight into what the next TakeOver card should resemble. But, hey, where's the fun in that? Last night's card w/finishes: Eva Marie vs Cassie Eva hit a Sliced Bread No. 2 on Cassie for the pinfall win. Baron Corbin vs Jesus De Leon Corbin hit End of Days immediately for the victory. Samoa Joe vs Mike Rawlis Joe hit the Muscle Buster for the win. Bayley vs Emma Bayley hit Bayley to Belly for the pinfall win. The Vaudevillains vs Angelo Dawkins & Sawyer Fulton Gotch pinned Dawkins after a Whirling Dervish.
