4 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Apr 30)

Rollins battles Ambrose in the main event.

With Extreme Rules over and Payback coming up only three weeks later, WWE has already set the stage for some of the big matches at their annual May PPV. This week's edition of Smackdown helped to further those storylines while not really setting up new rivalries. There was a pretty big main event on Smackdown that WWE should have advertised because Seth Rollins taking on Dean Ambrose is a big match. WWE didn't mention it on Raw. This is the kind of thing that is confusing because if you're going to put on a big match like that you should promote it heavily. Instead, they didn't even mention it. It was also concerning that Smackdown was down about 300,000 viewers this week on Syfy. Thursday was supposed to lead to a bigger audience for the "blue brand" yet it really hasn't happened. It's still a show featuring good matches, but it doesn't feel like a "must see" TV show in part because of the poor way that WWE promotes it. These are the match results from this week's show. Roman Reigns d. Kane by countout Damien Sandow d. Curtis Axel Ryback d. Luke Harper Cesaro & Tyson Kidd d. The New Day by disqualification Nikki Bella d. Cameron Seth Rollins d. Dean Ambrose Here are four ups and four downs from this week's Smackdown.
