“He took a bump!”

Someone, somewhere saw Daniel Bryan fall backward, knocked over by Kevin Owens onto Shane McMahon, and was instantly convinced that this meant that Bryan was going to come back as an active wrestler.

There is next-to-no chance that Bryan comes back as an active wrestler in WWE again.

“But he took a bump in the ring!”

Set that aside for a second, and set aside the match-long drama between D-Bry and Shane-O-Mac. The real drama is in whether Bryan is going to side with longtime fellow indy wrestler compatriots Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens against a McMahon. Sure, there are plenty of people who will despise an authority figure power struggle (and the irony that Bryan would be one of those figures).

But that’s the real issue here, not whether Bryan is going to wrestle again. Regardless, we’ll give an “up” to putting Bryan – an extremely popular figure regardless of what he’s doing in the ring – right smack in the middle of things instead of just being a matchmaker and cheerleader for Shane.
