If you ever needed the poster child for a totally skippable WWE PPV, we got it Sunday with Clash of Champions to close out 2017.

The PPV, where every title was on the line (along with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens’ WWE careers), had the potential to be entertaining, a diamond in the rough so to speak. But overbooking hampered this PPV from early on, and it never settled in. We were left with a disjointed event that didn’t produce a seriously memorable (in a good way) match.

WWE put all its eggs in one basket, the drama between Shane McMahon and Zayn & Owens. And the result was turning a surefire memorable match into a snoozer. But hey, we got to see special refs who also are SmackDown authority figures arguing. If that’s the kind of thing that gets up fired up, then Clash of Champions was for you.

It wasn’t all bad though. Jinder Mahal looks to be out of the main event – and world title picture – for now, which is a positive development. And regardless of what you think of the storyline itself, giving Daniel Bryan something to do other than make matches is at least something.

With that said, let’s find out what rose to the occasion and what came toppling back to Earth. Let’s get to it…
