5 Amazing Chris Jericho Matches Outside WWE

4. Vs. Mick Foley (Big Ass Extreme Bash)

We've seen Jericho work the mat; we've seen him work the, err, air. But the other string to his bow is the ability to brawl, and they don't come much more hardcore than a match with Cactus Jack down in Paul Heyman's Extreme Championship Wrestling.

This match is just classic ECW, made better by the fact that Jericho - a genuine wrestler's wrestler - is taken totally out of his element by Mick Foley, who insists on fighting the match outside the ring (and, occasionally, in and amongst the crowd).

There are better contests to watch, of course, if you are looking for masterful chain wrestling and a show of raw athleticism - but, as this one showed, that isn't always the way to excite an audience of die-hards.

Y2J and his opponent tear clumps out of each other for more than 10 minutes, both of them taking some super nasty-looking bumps - a crazy top-rope hurricanrana (involving Mick Foley!) perhaps the pick of them - in the process. And, well, it's exactly what made ECW so special.
