5 Big WWE Debuts That Happened At Survivor Series

Survivor Series has a rich history of hot debuts.

This month sees the 28th annual Survivor Series pay per view. Originally presented back in 1987, the event is heralded as one of WWE€™s €˜big four€™ shows and behind WrestleMania is the longest running in the company€™s history. Originally presented as a night of single elimination multi-person tag team matches where babyfaces and heels would settle scores and re-open old wounds, the event has over time been watered down to look pretty much like any other card. However for the majority of the 28 years €“ this year included €“ the gang war style setup has been maintained for a few matches. It at least maintains a degree of originality and preserves a little of the nostalgia for us long-time fans. This year€™s show at which John Cena will lead a team against the dreaded (or dreadful) Authority€™s hand-picked heels can only be described as a filler while WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar sits at home awaiting Royal Rumble. Previous years however have been treated like a much bigger deal and Superstars have even been given their big break at the PPV. In this feature we take a look at 5 of the biggest debuts in Survivor Series history and examine the impact they had €“ or in one case did not have €“ on the industry in the years that followed.
