5 Most Hilarious Owen Hart Wrestling Ribs

3. Lex Luger 'Can't Lift' Owen (But Davey Boy Smith Can)

Listen to Lex Luger talk now, and it becomes obvious that he regrets the way he treated people earlier in his career. A spinal problem has left the man wheelchair-bound, and he admits the whole thing has humbled him. Previously, Luger had one of the best physiques in pro wrestling history, and he knew it. Whenever he walked into a room, people stood in awe, and Lex wasn't used to people refusing him. That's what makes this particular Owen Hart story all the sweeter. In early-1995, Luger was teaming with Davey Boy Smith as the 'Allied Powers'. The tag-team was one of Luger's last major angles in the WWF, before jumping to WCW later that year. During one house show match, the heavily-hyped duo were facing Owen Hart and Yokozuna on a throwaway non-televised event. One of the moves Lex enjoyed performer was a Gorilla Press Slam. The stunt made him look powerful, but relied on co-operation from the peer sharing the ring with him. Looking to deliberately prank Luger, Owen decided to 'sand bag' his rival, not pushing off of his shoulders as normal so Lex could extend his arms over his head. Due to the fact Hart weighed around 240lbs, Luger had trouble lifting him, which made him look silly. Confused, Lex tagged out, and Smith entered the fray. As he had discussed before the bout with Owen, Davey Boy would perform the move successfully. From there, he'd turn to his partner and declare himself stronger, embarrassing him in front of the live crowd. Frustrated, Lex tried again, with the same results, and Owen couldn't stop laughing.
