5 Most Infamous Illegitimate Son Wrestling Storylines

4. Andre The Giant & Big Show

When Paul Wight first debuted in WCW in 1995, the 7 foot tall, man-mountain was a long way from the colossal behemoth of the Big Show we know and love today.

WCW fans got their first glimpse of the as yet unnamed giant during a segment on the July 16th edition of WCW Main Event in 1995, when the mysterious towering individual confronted The Hulkster (mid-promo brother!) by throwing an oversized shirt in his face and simply saying “Remember this?” During the aftermath, Hogan would later quip “This is Andre’s”; laying the groundwork for the formal introduction of The Giant as Andre’s kayfabe son.

Known simply as The Giant, Paul Wight would appear in a number of cringe-worthy vignettes in the weeks that followed; aligning himself with Kevin Sullivan’s Dungeon of Doom stable of misfit freaks in their seemingly eternal battle against Hulkamania.

The Dungeon of Doom would go on to square off with the team of Hogan and friends (comprising of Randy Savage, Lex Luger and Sting) in War Games at the Fall Brawl event that year; with the caveat being that, if Hogan’s team were victorious, Hulk would get his hands on Kevin Sullivan, mano a mano in the cage. Before that could really happen, The Giant came to the aid of Sullivan; setting up Hogan vs The Giant at Halloween Havoc the following month in a poor and blatant rehash of WrestleMania 3.

One month later, Hogan would drop the title to The Giant in his debut match (on a technicality) and the “Son of Andre” gimmick would quietly be dropped after the fact.
