4. The Pseudo Death Spot Match

WWE tends not to care for presenting their product as if it's real, widening plot holes erected on an already flimsy premise and causing all manner of headaches for those who want to suspend that disbelief.

On any given episode of RAW or SmackDown, whomever is in charge stumbles a*se-backwards into making matches when arguments simply materialise in front of them. What would Shane McMahon have done, for his televised main event this week, if Kevin Owens and Rusev hadn't interfered in the US Title match between AJ Styles and John Cena on SmackDown?

It's maddening. The very structure of the shows make them impossible to believe in, and the formula - and it very much is that, because anybody can follow the pattern, playa - just isn't working out. WWE shattered it on Sunday night when they despatched Heath Slater and Curt Hawkins to the ring during the ambulance melee. What's odd about this is that the one time WWE felt the need to create the illusion of realism - that the show must go on, etc. etc. - they concurrently filmed the most OTT and illogical angle of the year. Oh, and Slater and Hawkins were depicted as absolute jabronis despite commanding, pointlessly, low six figure salaries.

The cameras didn't even bother to capture the finish. Brilliantly, Hawkins on Twitter claimed Slater put him away with a top rope Canadian Destroyer.
