5 Most Insane Things Happening In Wrestling Right Now (June 23)

Mamma Mia!

The finish of the first-ever Women's Money In The Bank ladder match polarised the wrestling community this week.

X-Pac spoke plainly about it on Sean Waltman’s X-Pac 12360 podcast. "It felt like they took a big giant cr*p on it, to be honest with you. And here’s the thing: we can blame anything or anyone and point fingers. But, when it comes to these things, it’s Vince McMahon: that’s where the buck stops. That’s just the way it is."

Randy wrasslin' royalty Jerry Lawler was also not best pleased at the bout. None of them get their t*ts out, for a start.

Lawler shared his thoughts on the divisive match on his Dinner With The King podcast. "That’s one thing that disturbed me, and hopefully they will fix that in some kind of way," he said. "We don't even call them Divas anymore; it's the women's division because it's about empowering women. That's why I was disappointed to see, in the first ever, historic Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, that they had to have a man climb the ladder and retrieve the Money in the Bank briefcase."

Jerry Lawler: Feminist.

I've read it all now. You'll be telling me that WWE has finally reprimanded JBL for his bullying next...

5. Sami Zayn's Mass Grave

This week, Triple H paid a surprise visit to Charlie Guenigault, the heroic off-duty London police officer wounded in the awful London Bridge terror attack. Irrespective of the fact that it was a PR exercise, it was nice to see. Just because something is born from cynicism, it doesn't mean the effects can't be heartfelt.

Triple H was on rare form during his visit to the UK in general, particularly during a BBC Radio 1 interview, in which he gently ribbed The Rock's finisher and retold the tale of WWF stars d*cking about on house shows purely to pop the Undertaker. In true Trips fashion, that goodwill soon turned sour.

Guenigault is a big WWE fan. His favourite wrestler is Sami Zayn - and so he was overjoyed when Trips whipped out his smartphone and played him a video message from the Underdog Buried Underground. Zayn was so touched that Guenigault wore his t-shirt on the night of the attack that he struggled to express his gratitude, going to great (literal) lengths to do so.

Now Guenigault, like all of us, probably prefers the version of Sami that isn't booked like a total geek - so Triple H, during his own PR stunt, of course buried one of his own performers in front of his biggest fan. "We had to cut it off. He goes on for another twenty-two minutes. In Sami Zayn fashion, he just kinda rambles. We faded it out just to save you the trouble."

What a hilariously inappropriate time to play "the Game". He just cannot help himself.
