5 Reasons Lesnar vs Cena Was The Best WWE Title Match In Years

A stellar contest that was truly one for the ages.

For the considerable amount of television time and hype given to John Cena€™s title match with Brock Lesnar at Summerslam, the match absolutely delivered insofar as being every bit as violent and destructive as €œthe beast incarnate€ promised. Sixteen suplexes and two F-5 maneuvers later and Brock Lesnar is once again on to of the heap in WWE as the World Heavyweight Champion. The match wasn't so much a match as it was a mauling of the highest order, Lesnar's relentless attack on Cena possibly feeling more like an attack on not just the "Chain Gang General," but on WWE's product at-present, too. It's entirely possible to state that with each suplex Lesnar delivered, a bit more of the spirit of the infantile comedy-loving WWE Universe was being heaved across a wrestling ring and driven into the mat. Unlike other big-time matches in recent WWE memory, this title match delivered and more. In upping the ante on violence and sheer brutality, it brought a level of realism to WWE that a) refreshed the product and b) created intrigue for what is to come like rarely has existed in recent WWE memory. Outside of those reasons, though, this was a stellar title match, and here€™s why.
