5 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Mar 28)

Downs...

2. Squashed Profits

Authors Of Pain Montez Ford

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continued with two second round matches last night, the first of which saw the Street Profits face the sternest test of their young careers. They met the Authors Of Pain, and while Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford walked in as clear underdogs, few could've predicted such a one-sided battering.

The Profits were thwarted in just 2 minutes 30 seconds. They barely mustered a slither of offence, and with Ford abandoning the bout to fanny around at ringside (he even offered Paul Ellering a sip from his cup), Dawkins was left to take the brunt of it. Angelo tried, but was hopeless to avoid the Last Chapter.

Ford was reportedly injured earlier in the tapings, hence the format. Still, a writing team as talented as NXT's should be able to come up with a compromise that doesn't make the Profits look so useless. They've been built up to a moderate degree since debuting, but now, they've been shot back down the credibility ladder, suggesting that their ceiling may not be as high as first thought.
