5 Ups And 2 Downs From WCPW Loaded Episode 7

Stevens Vs. Damo!

The seventh episode of WhatCulture Pro Wrestling Loaded featured what was arguably the promotion's biggest match up to this point - WCPW World Heavyweight Champion Big Damo defending his title against Aron Stevens (formerly Damien Sandow in WWE).

Stevens earned the title shot two weeks ago in his WCPW debut when he defeated Doug Williams in a number one contendership match. Last week, Stevens came face-to-face with Damo's adviser, Adam Blampied, in a verbal joust that ended with Blampied taking a kick to the groin. Damo saved his manager from further harm, but the bad blood had been drawn.

Apart from that, there were several other matches that represented fallout from recent weeks of action, including the Built to Destroy event. Those included women's action, a no holds barred rematch, and an elimination bout - not to mention a match that, quality-wise, outdid almost anything WWE put out this past weekend.

In today's wrestling world, the Internet gives people unbridled access to all the great action they could want - as such, as for an independent promotion to succeed, it really has to deliver in the ring. So far, WhatCulture Pro Wrestling is doing a great job at that. It's not perfect, but there's a lot to like.

Here are 5 ups and 2 downs from WCPW Loaded Episode 7:

7. Up - No Mercy

On last week's episode of Loaded, "Iron Man" Joe Coffey got a shot at Big Damo's WCPW World Heavyweight Title, but it wasn't a fair fight. Before the bout could start, The Primate - whom Coffey defeated in a no holds barred match at Built to Destroy - attacked "Iron Man" with a chair. The hurt Coffey still took the match and put up a valiant fight, but ultimately fell to Big Damo.

As a result of the attack, Coffey and Primate opened up Loaded with another no holds barred match, and it was a doozy. The two men brawled around the ringside area and into the crowd, with Coffey eventually climbing to a platform about 10 feet up in the air and jumping off on his foe. Though "Iron Man" wasn't able to make The Primate submit like he did at Built to Destroy, he beat him so badly that he lost consciousness.

This was a great bout, but two notes - firstly, the chairshots were by and large safe, but at one point, Primate went head-first into a steel chair. Secondly, in a post-match promo, Coffey used the term "ho-bag."

Neither of those things was necessary, and the segment would have been just as good without them.
