5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (16 Sept)

IRON WOMEN!

The main event for the next edition of NXT TakeOver has been set, and it's an absolute doozy. Bayley vs Sasha Banks. A 30-minute Iron (Wo)Man match. If that isn't enough to get you pumped for October 7th, then we're not friends, you and I, but more thoughts on that matchup later in the article. Last night's NXT was a somewhat low-key episode, seemingly focused more on announcements than wrestling, building both the upcoming TakeOver special and next week's show - hyping the debut of Asuka as well as the tag title rematch. However, the featured matches were all solid and the announcements were all stellar so, for an hour of programming, the quality remained at its usual NXT high. The card for TakeOver received further build in a rundown segment on the Dusty Rhodes classic, where it was revealed that the two semi-final matches, as well as the final, would take place at the live special. As yet, there is still no official prize for the tournament, but it promises to provide yet more stellar matches. Last night's card (w/finishes): Tye Dillinger vs Danny Burch Dillinger pinned Burch after a knee to the temple. Apollo Crews vs Solomon Crowe Apollo picked up the win after a standing moonsault. Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano vs Rhyno & Baron Corbin Corbin pinned Gargano after End of Days. Bayley vs Sarah Dobson Bayley hit her Bayley to Belly on Dobson for the victory.
