5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE Smackdown (Feb 4)

There's tension boiling between Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns...

Credit where credit is due, officials at WWE do appear to be taking Smackdown more seriously these days. Obviously, Monday Night Raw is still the flagship show in the promotion, but the Thursday night show was awesome this past week. It's a good sign that it was pretty difficult to find any negatives about the event, although they did exist. In total, there were a whopping 7 matches on Smackdown, which is a huge number for the 2-hour show. Granted, a few of these were short affairs, but it's still notable that there was a lot of actual wrestling for those who tuned in. That's certainly something that's to be advised at the moment, especially given the bumper bout WWE announced between AJ Styles and Chris Jericho for next week. Joining that announcement, there was some cool interaction between the WWE Divas, although another pair had quite the awkward match inside the ring. In addition, Smackdown is a wonderful breeding ground for excellent tag-team matches, aside from what proved to be a strange main event. This article aims to explore 5 distinct positives from this week's Smackdown telecast, but also examines 3 different negatives that served to take away from the show overall. This week more than ever, there's a reason for more 'ups' than 'downs'.
