Well, if you weren’t excited for WrestleMania before Monday night, then you likely aren’t all that much more excited after WWE Raw.

The last episode of the red brand before Mania was a solid effort, but hardly what you might expect as the go-home show before the biggest event of the year. And while there still is an episode of SmackDown to go, it isn’t like things are at a fever pitch. That might just be person perception, but it’s still worth noting.

That’s not to say that this writer and many readers and fans aren’t looking forward to Sunday. WrestleMania 34 has the potential on paper to be a really, really good show. If all goes well, we could see several good-to-great matches and be thoroughly entertained, if not exhausted after a seven-hour affair.

Raw did its job not upsetting the applecart, but it didn’t break any new ground. We didn’t hear from Undertaker about John Cena’s challenge We didn’t find out who Braun Strowman’s tag partner will be. And we didn’t get any surprise entrants into either battle royal.

We did find out that Stephanie McMahon isn’t afraid of Ronda Rousey, which some might view as a good thing to build suspense for Sunday’s mixed tag match, but others might find a bit of a stretch that an executive isn’t backing down from a former UFC champion.

Let’s find out what was smooth sailing and what hit choppy waters. Let’s get to it…

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
