As WWE headed into its penultimate Raw before SummerSlam, the PPV was mostly booked already, which is a good thing.

But it also meant that Raw was a lot of coloring inside the lines for the show. The big draw clearly was Ronda Rousey’s first bout on Raw, giving her one more Raw match than Brock Lesnar has had in this run with the company. Aside from that, you had to wonder what the fallout from Brock’s attack on GM Kurt Angle would be.

We got our answer to both of those questions Monday night, with Rousey passing her test and Paul Heyman delivering a killer promo that was very unlike him. We also saw what role Bobby Lashley has settled into after flirting with a Universal Championship match. We saw what happens when Roman Reigns tries to pull double-duty. And we saw Braun Strowman find another way to lose, but it wasn’t a bad thing.

Raw wasn’t bad by any stretch Monday night, but it should be firing on all cylinders right now, not sputtering at times giving us Titus O’Neil/Rezar matches to set up a rubber tag team match. Not everything can be perfect, but WWE certainly could do a little better.

With that said, let’s take a look at what rose to the top and what sank like a stone. Let’s get to it…
