5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (June 11)
7. Matches Without
There’s a smidgeon of hypocrisy with this “down,” as you’ll
see an up somewhat related to it later.
However, you have to deduct a point for the efforts to build
“critical momentum” for Money in the Bank: fatal four-way matches between the
Raw male and female MITB entrants. It’s just lazy booking after pairing the competitors
in a mix-and-match manner the past couple weeks.
It’s almost as if the writers looked at a calendar and said,
“Huh, we have six weeks of TV. So that’ll be two weeks of qualifiers, three
weeks of mixing them up, and then they’ll all fight each other to build
momentum. It’ll be great!”
It’s fine when the match means something, but even if it
produces good wrestling, it’s still lazy “writing” to fill time instead of
actually building an angle and doing character development.
