6 Lies WWE Told Us About The Undertaker/Triple H Rivalry

6. Everything Was Gone After WrestleMania XXVIII

In his first promo regarding his upcoming showdown with The Undertaker, Triple H explained why he agreed to the contest. In doing so, he recalled how everything "changed" after their picture-perfect moment from WrestleMania XXVIII, claiming that Shawn Michaels was gone, Undertaker was practically retired and that he himself donned the corporate suit. In short, everything was gone.

While it was a great, emotional promo, it was all technically untrue. Shawn Michaels had retired two years prior to WrestleMania XXVIII and simply returned to his life after officiating that match. Though The Streak did come to an end and Undertaker teased retirement on more than occasion, he has continued to wrestle at every single WrestleMania since, as well as wrestling on TV twice in 2013, at three other PPVs in 2015 and even at The Greatest Royal Rumble earlier this year.

Then there's Triple H who had already adopted the corporate role before the WrestleMania XXVIII match and merely resumed it afterwards. This hasn't stopped him from also wrestling at every WrestleMania since as well as a few other events in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

So, in spite of Triple H's comments, nothing was really gone. The era simply continued to stick around on a part-time basis, much like it had been doing before the 2012 match, and it will likely still do so after the pair's clash at Super Show-Down.
