The 18th Money in the Bank ladder match is now less than a month away. The Money In The Bank pay-per-view is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the WWE calendar, and almost all of that anticipation is centred on the titular ladder match. Who will win the briefcase? When will they cash it in? Who will fall from an incredibly high thing?

Despite this, the ladder match itself has become somewhat predictable. The men involved work towards a number of major spots, setting up ladders in positions no clear-thinking man would even consider, purely so that someone can fall through the ladder at a later point. Is it entertaining? Of course it is, but that doesn't forgive the predictability and contrivance.

The six men involved in this year's Money in the Bank ladder match have a chance to light a new fire under the ladder match trope. Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler have been confirmed for the match, and the WWE Universe is rightly expecting fireworks.

It may well turn out to be the best Money in the Bank ladder match to date.
