6 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Hell In A Cell 2017

6. Roode, Ziggler Get Death Slot

Dolph Ziggler Bobby Roode

You really can’t fault Bobby Roode or Dolph Ziggler for their match getting less than an enthusiastic response. After all, it came after Jinder Mahal sucked the oxygen out of the room by retaining his title, and it was the only match standing between fans and the Hell in a Cell main event.

Still, although this mini-feud does have a decent premise – Ziggler has been ticked about wrestlers getting attention and adoration for their flash rather than their substance – it hasn’t really gotten a lot of traction. Roode is a former NXT Champion, which means he hardly is all flash. And Ziggler’s entire persona is rooted in being a show-off – hell, his intro music says it all. While that might apply to his ringwork, he’s never been afraid to be flashy outside of it.

It’s really not fair. This should be a good feud, and it might be one. But it just felt flat Sunday night. The circumstances mentioned earlier might have hijacked it, but we’ve still gotta give it a grade, and as of right now, it felt like a negative. But this writer reserves the right to modify that going forward.
