Scanning the Battleground 2016 card, it looks like fans will be treated to some awesome matches.

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens was excellent at Payback, and it makes sense to imagine people will get more of the same on July 24. Similarly, even though Roman Reigns has been missing for much of the build, his triple threat match against Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins should excite.

There's a good chance such matches will turn up on a list detailing the best from Battleground someday, but they have some seriously stiff competition. Interestingly, it isn't always the main event that takes the most credit.

To date, WWE have presented three Battleground shows since 2013. All are dissected here in order to find the absolute best matches that people should definitely be checking out.

There are a fair few hidden gems in here, featuring guys like Rob Van Dam, The Usos and others some may not expect to see. Naturally, they join those who have shone at Battleground, like Daniel Bryan, Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns.

Here are 7 of the best Battleground matches yet...

7. The Usos Vs. The Wyatt Family (2014)

The Usos are in a strange place right now, a veteran team that somehow sits nowhere near the top of the WWE tag-team division. As babyfaces, they were hurt due to an association with Roman Reigns, and they haven't featured too heavily throughout 2016. Rewind to 2014, and there was still a lot of hope there.

At Battleground 2014, The Usos faced The Wyatt Family in a truly worthwhile 2-Out-Of-3-Falls Match. After Adam Rose vs. Fandango and Cameron vs. Naomi had stunk out the Kickoff portion of the program, both these duos opened the pay-per-view proper in fine fashion.

Watching the event back, it's clear that the match was helped by the dirge people had been forced to sit through before it. The Wyatts were very much over, and both Luke Harper and Erick Rowan were a credit to themselves throughout.

There is a good pop when Jimmy and Jey win by 2-1, signalling that fans do like them when they're booked effectively. In terms of opening matches, this must be considered the best in Battleground history to date.
