6. SuperCena Vanquishes The Nexus

Did you know there were plans at one point for Nexus leader Wade Barrett to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVII? Well jeez, those plans must have faded quickly when John Cena made fools of his faction at SummerSlam 2010.

While clearly lacking in great wrestlers once Daniel Bryan was booted from the group, the Nexus were a genuinely interesting and different part of what was otherwise stale and predictable WWE programming. It would have done the company a major good to have Barrett and his crew defeat Cena’s team in the main event of SummerSlam. Not only would it have kept the Nexus angle strong for a few more months, which would have helped otherwise dire PPV buy numbers in that year, but Wade Barrett could have become a bigger star. Instead, he just sort of waffled in the lower midcard for several years before ultimately leaving the company after WrestleMania 32. That seems like a bit of a step down from being pencilled in with a WrestleMania match with The Undertaker.

In interviews, Barrett says while he has no ill will toward Vince McMahon, it was evident he never had his best interests in mind. After SummerSlam 2010, that seemed abundantly clear.
