7 Reasons Monday's WWE RAW Might Be The Bottom Of The Barrel

Seven weeks ago, WWE put on an explosive, rousing and inspiring Monday Night Raw the night after WrestleMania XXX. It was good enough to give fans hope that the promotion had turned a page and was moving into the future, with new stars debuting and vignettes for others airing. (Smart) fan favorites like Daniel Bryan, Cesaro and The Shield were the stars of that episode of Raw, and looked to be positioned to be the focus going forward. For once, it looked like there was something resembling a long-term vision in a post-Mania world. But the wheels have fallen off the bus in record time. While there are some angles that are still going really well (the Shield vs. Evolution feud is almost single-handedly carrying things) and there are some things that are out of WWE's control (Bryan's neck surgery), the material making it to Raw is just getting downright embarrassing and shows that Raw just might be cratering in terms of quality. Monday's three-hour affair might be the new low point. At a time when ratings are dropping week by week (nearly 20 percent of Raw€™s viewership has evaporated during the past month), ask yourself as you look at these examples: Why would a new fan tune in to watch this? Would you introduce a friend to WWE by having him or her watch Monday's Raw?

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
