The time has come for NXT to rebuild.

Has there ever been a quieter build for an NXT TakeOver?

NXT TakeOver: Orlando is just a few days away, yet the show has all of the hype of a particularly reticent librarian. As of writing, just four matches have been announced for the card, with three championship matches joined by the debut of an independent standout. The show almost seems entirely forgotten.

For a year or so NXT has been in what feels like an endless transition, as the developmental brand fights to create an identity with its new roster of independent stars and homegrown talents. The former dominate the TakeOver card - but will they be the ones to lead NXT into the summer of 2017?

TakeOver: Orlando could be a decent show that passes quietly in the night, or it could yet provide the spark that re-ignites a brand in stasis. In order for the latter to come to pass, certain things simply must happen in Orlando on Saturday night.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
