7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 2000

7. Tazz Defeated Kurt Angle Easily In His Debut

The WWE debut of Tazz received a lot of hype. Considering how short his in-ring career in WWE was, that may come as a surprise to some people, but it really was a big thing. He was a big deal in ECW for several years, so when he went to WWE people were excited. It also made a lot of sense that it was going to be in New York City near where he grew up. Kurt Angle was still relatively new and was undefeated at the time. He was very entertaining as an overbearing heel who bragged about his 1996 Olympic gold medal win. They had a short match that ended under in four minutes with Tazz dominating for the majority of it. He nailed a barrage of suplexes (including his patented Tazzplex) and then applied the Tazzmission submission to win the match rather easily. http://youtu.be/blO5nQ012w8 If you watched that match at the time you might have thought that Tazz would be a bigger star in WWE instead of Angle. Nope. Not even close. It was still a memorable debut for Tazz with a hot crowd that loved it all.
