7 Times Vince McMahon Wrongly Thought His Top WWE Stars Were Finished

Just when Vince thought they were out...they pulled themselves back in!

The WWE needs top stars. What would the company be without them? Vince McMahon owes a lot to the genuine superstars in his company. Without guys like John Cena and Brock Lesnar, Vince would find it harder to shift tickets at house shows, he'd sell fewer t-shirts and the company would generally be in a poorer state. It's said that to become a top guy in WWE you need to personally convince Vince McMahon that you're ready for the spot. You have to prove to him that you have the talent, drive and commitment to help carry his company. When you become a top guy, you become Vince's friend. That means socialising with the old man, attending concerts with him, flying to PPVs on his private jet, and so forth. It's clear that Vince has a bond with the big stars. He wants to keep them close so that they have a sense of loyalty and don't go elsewhere. Of course, there inevitably comes a time when, in Vince's eyes, they've outlived their usefulness on top of the card and need to be phased down. It's happening to Cena now. Often, Vince decides that a talent are finished, only for them to prove to him that they still had a lot left to give.
