7 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 14)

Downs...

1. Bludgeoned To Boredom

Finding problems with SmackDown was tough. Every segment served a purpose, even this one, but while most of the night was filled with smart, logical developments from key players in the inter-brand war, the Bludgeon Brothers stuck out in the worst possible way.

To the surprise of nobody at all, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan's latest vignette saw the burly, hammer-wielding duo hanging out in a dingy forest, spouting cheesy lines that may have been intimidating in the '80s, but sound comically bad three decades later. There's no value to this gimmick whatsoever, and while their initial segment was entertaining in a 'so bad, it's good' type of way, the ensuing videos became increasingly tedious.

Harper, in particular, is extremely underrated. They're a solid tag team who deserve a push, particularly after spending much of 2017 on the fringes, but they'll go nowhere with this outdated act. The only real positive is that we finally have their debut date: next Tuesday.

Fortunately, this was the sole blip on an otherwise excellent show...
