7 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (April 23)

Downs...

5. Lashley, Strowman Serve As Plot Device

Braun Strowman thumbs down

The Burning Questions column asked what was next for Bobby Lashley and whether Braun Strowman would get back on track. Monday, both teamed up to demolish Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn after they mouthed off to GM Kurt Angle.

Fans cheered wildly throughout the match, exploding when Strowman tagged in and ran roughshod over both men. The beasts won in short order after that, leaving Zayn and Owens laying.

So why is this a “down?”

Simply, Lashley and Strowman by definition should be top guys angling for a prominent spot on Raw. Instead, they weren’t doing anything and served as Angle’s go-to guys to beat up the Canadian Connection. It wasn’t long ago that Braun was berating the GM and demanding he give him more competition.

This isn’t a negative in the sense that it was some horrible miscarriage. It’s a cautionary one, as Lashley is now in week #3 of his return and has yet to have a singles match or anything resembling an angle. And Strowman has tagged with a 10-year-old, relinquished the tag titles, and tagged in two other matches. Hopefully they get on track after the WWE Network special event.
