Seven weeks before WrestleMania XXXIII, WWE opted to keep its part-timers, aka Mania main-eventers, home and relied on their full-time workers to carry the load on Monday Night Raw.

And boy, did they deliver.

Raw was far from flawless, but it was an entertaining, packed, newsworthy episode that moved several storylines forward, delivered a couple legitimate shocks, and produced a major main-event moment to close out the show. We saw Samoa Joe continue his path of destruction through the roster. We saw Roman Reigns on the short end of a feud… for now. We saw Jeri-KO celebrate their friendship in a most unusual – and climactic – way. And we saw Bayley take Charlotte Flair to the limit.

Even the stuff down a peg was well done, with Sami Zayn and Rusev having a nice match, Neville and Jack Gallagher heating up their rivalry, and Braun Strowman tangling with Mark Henry. Seven weeks before WrestleMania, and WWE began seriously setting the table for its big PPV Monday night. Of course, we still have another PPV, Fastlane, to get past first, so we’ll have to see how things continue to shape up.

With that said, what clicked and fired on all cylinders, and what sputtered and stalled? Let’s get to it…

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
