7 WWE Dream Matches That Happened Years Apart

6. Kevin Owens Vs. AJ Styles

From the most World Wrestling Entertainment dream match possible to one made outside of the big leagues. You would have got long odds on Kevin Owens and AJ Styles making it to WWE at all, let alone being highlighted as two of the organisation's top performers, but that is exactly what we have in 2016.

Since Styles arrived at the Royal Rumble (where he was eliminated by Owens no less), the two have met in singles competition on TV a total of three times. A pay-per-view quality dream match has possibly already been burnt out on free TV, and the two will have to be kept well apart for a long time for the deserved interest to build in a big match.

2016 wasn't the first time they met however. You have to travel back some 11 years to 2005 to find their first singles match, a match that took place in Quebec City for the EWR promotion. Styles was victorious on that night, but Owens would get his revenge just a few short months later by defeating the Phenomenal One for the PWG Championship at PWG Zombies Don't Run.

Styles and Owens had a total of five singles matches outside of WWE, two of which came in 2014. Styles won that series 4-1, but Owens has since won all of their WWE matches, tying the overall series up at 4-4.

What chance a rubber match on PPV?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
