8 Babyfaces The WWE Universe Turned Heel

7. Eva Marie

In truth, this entry could just be every single time WWE tried to position Eva Marie as a babyface. It simply couldn't work; someone with so little aptitude for professional wrestling was never going to get over as a fan favourite, and the WWE Universe rightly dumped on it every single time.

The funny thing was that each face turn for Eva Marie came as part of a big return to the roster, the most egregious example being prior to WrestleMania 32 in 2016. Marie was revealed as the final piece in the 10-Diva tag match, fighting on the face side. I mean, I say the face side, but it included Brie Bella and Alicia Fox, so who truly knows.

The WWE audience forced Eva Marie to turn heel every time she was even vaguely introduced as a babyface, and rightly so. Eventually, the company just gave up and released her last June.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
