The time is ripe for rampant speculation. One of WWE€™s most highly anticipated events of the year, save for WrestleMania, is just around the corner. During its 27-year history, the Royal Rumble has grown in prominence until it has become the lynchpin to WWE€™s biggest time of the year. The Royal Rumble is the official start to the Road to WrestleMania, a two-month journey to WWE€™s version of the Super Bowl. For fans, WrestleMania season typically involves major storylines, dream matchups and big angles playing out over the course of 10-12 weeks. And everything begins with the winner of the Royal Rumble match, who gets a golden ticket to fight for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Mania. But the Rumble is about more than just who wins and goes on to headline WrestleMania. The beauty of the Rumble is that with 30 wrestlers crowding the ring, there are numerous opportunities for various storylines to unfold. We can see several new confrontations, new superstars being born. Additionally, the Royal Rumble PPV often sets into motion the top several matches for Mania.
