8 Horribly Outdated Wrestling Acts

8. The Shining Stars

Primo and Epico would have actually been ranked higher here if they were still Los Matadores, but lucky for them, they were gifted with a slightly (very, very slightly) less horrible gimmick.

Instead of being a one-dimensional act of two guys parading around with a small man in a bull costume, The Shining Stars are a one-dimensional act of two guys who like Puerto Rico.

You can imagine watching the WWF in the 80s and picture Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon introducing a vignette with two new, incoming superstars who are from Puerto Rico and...well, that's it. That's the entire gimmick, and in that video the two just talk about how great Puerto Rico is. Imagine the heat!

I mean, I’m more happy for the tag team than anything. They seem to be relaxed and enjoy talking about their home country. It you take a step back, is it really any different than patriotic babyface wrestlers talking about how much they love the place they were born in?

The only thing that's certain, though, is that The Shining Stars are a gimmick that should have not made it into the 21st century.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
